Introduction to the Ohio Leadership Forum

The Ohio Leadership Forum provides participants leadership training, tools to develop action plans for education improvement, and sustained consultations to support the implementation of those plans.

The Ohio Leadership Forum convened a pilot cohort of 20 superintendents and 4 state department staff at a conference in mid-May 2005, where they identified leadership challenges and received training on the Adaptive Leadership™ model of Harvard University’s Ronald Heifetz. Additionally, members of the pilot cohort receive ongoing consultations as they develop and implement action plans to improve student performance. This work has been supported financially by the Ohio Department of Education, the Jennings Foundation, Learning Point Associates, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The Ohio Leadership Forum is a pilot project for the Education Action Network. Lessons from this work will be disseminated broadly throughout Ohio and across the nation as the program grows.
